Sonia Bishop

Sonia Bishop (she/her) is interim Deputy Director for the ARCH Center and the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC). She is a research Scientist with over 20 years of experience partnering with community-based organizations serving immigrant and underserved populations, specializing in community-based participatory research to advance community health equity.

Sonia leads recruitment and engagement efforts and facilitates community advisory boards for initiatives such as the UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and HPRC. She is a co-developer of the Community Voices Program, which connects community organizations with academic researchers to support health-related projects through collaborative partnerships. Her career includes over 25 years as a research manager at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and ongoing collaboration with the UW Institute of Translational Health Sciences (ITHS). She has worked closely with Hispanic/Latino, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, and the Navajo Nation.

Outside of work, Sonia enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, running, swimming, and mountain biking.
